Funding stalls more bus routes (travel news)
...William Carr, an Allegan resident who works with support groups for those with disabilities, says he must walk at least two miles to access one of the system's buses.
The ACT allows drivers to pick up passengers only within a mile of a route.
"There's a lot of us - senior citizens and the disabled - that need to get out of their homes and go somewhere," said Carr, who is a member of a countywide group known as Access Committee for All People.
ACT director Dan Wedge says he understands Carr's frustration but doesn't foresee any changes in route structure in the near future.
"Until more local funds are available, we don't see any significant expansion," Wedge said.
